For many years I’ve been asked why did you become a massage therapist. I grew up on a small family farm in Bonaire, GA. We worked very hard and we would hurt at night. i began giving my brothers and sisters massages when i was a little girl. When I went to school, I massaged my teachers during recess. When I grew up, I always gave my friends massages. in 1996, I was massaging my friends on a tour bus on our way back from New Orleans. A guy on the bus saw me massaging my friends and asked me if i did massage fro a living. I told him no, but I frequently get told that I should.  He was a practicing massage therapist and ended up giving me an apprenticeship for free. I asked him why was he teaching me for free. His answer was, ” You were meant to be a healer and I was meant to teach you.” I chose to study at the Rising Spirit of Natural Health in 2001 because all of the graduates from that program I had been trading with for the last five years were far better than the rest. The main focus at this school was the Laura DeLaney Walker method of Neuromuscular Therapy. After graduation, I had acquired the learning bug and my thirst for knowledge was unquenchable. I became certified in reflexology and aromatherapy at the Heal Center with Roz Zollinger. For a period of about three years I studied anything and everything to do with massage including myofacial release, trigger point therapy.
